Trouble on the road

Bad news.  Turns out there’s going to be a short break in the trip.  I (Pat) was admited to the hospital with abdominal pain.  Turns out I have a large gallstone and need to have my gallbladder removed.  I’ll be going into surgery tomorrow morning.  Assuming everything goes right I’ll be out a day later, but not allowed to put the pack back on for a couple of weeks.  The plan for the moment is for Damon to continue hiking on and making progress for us, and I’ll rejoin him when and where I can.  Untill then I’ll be sitting here in the 4 star resort of Samaritan Pacific Hospital in Newport Oregon.  Hopefully we’ll be able to use this downtime to make improvments to the site and edit more images.  So enjoy the pretty pictures and hopefully we’ll both be back on the raod again soon.

Well hopefully you have health insurance Pat!

Being a trailbum has risks associated with it. I know if this had happened to Damon he might not have insurance. Just something to think about.

At least moving forward it sounds like heathcare will be accessable to everyone at a price they can afford.

I hope you start feeling better Pat!

No insurance but we do have a support tab just in case someone rich needs to find a new way to spend money.

Well, you should have you small donation now. I hope the surgery went ok, Pat. Damn, you got burned, you lost a toenail & a gall bladder. What injuries has Damon received? I have to ask, did they make you guys shave? Or are you running around the hospital scaring the folks? You’ve got to do a blog about the hospital stay, you know there are probably some unique peoples hanging around there. At least that is what I see during my clinical rotations.

If you’re leaving, Damon, you need to keep in touch as much as you are able to. And don’t try to push yourself. Have fun, little brother.

I think this is a great post. One thing that I find the most helpful is number five. Sometimes when I write, I just let the flow of the words and information come out so much that I loose the purpose. It’s only after editing when I realize what I’ve done. There’s defiantly a lot of great tips here I’m going to try to be more aware of.

Britton when did you become an old curmudgeon?? Back in the day you never would have been concerned with insurance or the state of healthcare in America ;-)

Hope you’re feeling better Pat. Send me photos soon so I can start printing them and hawking them here!
