Where things stand

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

A little update on what our plans are at this point.  I’m (Pat) in San Jose recovering after the surgery.  Everything went well in the surgery, but it will still be 2-3 weeks before I’m aloud to put the pack back on.

Recovery Pat

In the meantime Damon is on the trail and making his way south.  I’ll also be using this time to edit images and make general improvements to the site.  So watch for new pretty images and updates on Damon’s progress.  Thanks for being patient with us while we figure out how to make the best of our situation.

Trouble on the road

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Bad news.  Turns out there’s going to be a short break in the trip.  I (Pat) was admited to the hospital with abdominal pain.  Turns out I have a large gallstone and need to have my gallbladder removed.  I’ll be going into surgery tomorrow morning.  Assuming everything goes right I’ll be out a day later, but not allowed to put the pack back on for a couple of weeks.  The plan for the moment is for Damon to continue hiking on and making progress for us, and I’ll rejoin him when and where I can.  Untill then I’ll be sitting here in the 4 star resort of Samaritan Pacific Hospital in Newport Oregon.  Hopefully we’ll be able to use this downtime to make improvments to the site and edit more images.  So enjoy the pretty pictures and hopefully we’ll both be back on the raod again soon.

Hanging out in Lincoln City

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

No we did not get lost and end up in Nebraska, we are in Lincoln City Orgeon about a quarter of the way down Orgeon.  We did not know what to expect before we got here on acount of everyone telling us just how bad or boring Lincoln City was.  As  it turns out it is actulay kinda of a fun little city. We addmit its not the prettiest city  the beaches are pretty bland but it does have a nice casino and a kick ass skatepark.  We ended up staying a few days longer then planed mainly beacause the casino kept giving us free money to gamble with.  We never won big but we both hit fithteen dollar slots and they gave us each a free meal at the buffet.  After everything we probably cost the casino a hundred bucks, thanks Chinook Winds Casino. We did spend some of are time away from the casino mainly at the library and the skateboard park. We meet some cool kids from Pacific City named Matt and Adam, a realy nice couple at the local book store and two of the coolest cops we meet in long time. Thanks for not tazing us.  Anyway tonight we are heading south again towards Depoe Bay and we should be in Newport before too long.  Untill next time
