Transportaion
Walking along the beach for this long you start to nitice a lot of things. One of those things is the various ways people choose to move across the beach. We obviously have choosen the slowest and most difficult means, other then riding a turtle. This has at times made us envy the speedier modes of transportaion, but has also alowed us to enjoy the senery that others are flying past. Since southern Washington those speedier modes have started to even include cars on the beach. (Walking on the road and walking on the beach have been at times equally dangerous) Watching people cruise by in their SUV’s does kind of make us miss the rugged inacesability of Washingtons Olympic Coast. Other fun methods of beach travel we’ve seen have included ATV’s, quads, dirtbikes, horses, and even sandboards (think snowboard but without the snow) And of course, with something as fun as sandboarding, we had to try it. Deffinetly even more fun then it sounds. Pat even did rather well, considering it was his first downhill board sport. We had so much fun in fact that it drove us to develope our own sport for those of us without sandboards. We call it throwing yourself down a steep dune! and we can’t even use the excuse of being drunk) We’re going to go try to finish getting all the sand out of everywhere, but check out the pics. Hopefully we can get some sequences up soon. Until then, get out of your cars and walk on the beach.
